The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has announced new rules to make digital payments safer, effective 1st April 2026. Under the new regulations, in addition to SMS OTP, customers can use passwords, fingerprints, and biometrics as Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) methods. Every transaction must now include at least one unique and dynamic authentication factor.

RBI ने डिजिटल पेमेंट्स को और सुरक्षित बनाने के लिए नए नियम घोषित किए हैं, जो 1 अप्रैल 2026 से लागू होंगे। इन नियमों के अनुसार अब SMS OTP के अलावा password, fingerprint और biometrics जैसी Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) methods का भी इस्तेमाल किया जा सकता है। हर ट्रांजैक्शन के लिए कम से कम एक unique और dynamic authentication factor होना जरूरी होगा।
