In 'Conversations with Tom Petty' (2005), Petty said that he always wanted to perform "Waiting for Tonight" live, but that it would be tricky to do it without more singers involved. So when Tom Petty was honored as Person of the Year at the MusiCares event in February of 2017, he called The Bangles and they finally performed the song live for the first and only time.
