This episode explores infrared astrophotography. My target is the Pillars of Creation in the Eagle Nebula (M16). I am discussing the camera, telescope and filter setup to produce deep-sky sequences in near-infrared (NIR). NIR images can be integrated into an RGB image workflow by utilizing the red and blue channels to obtain a unique magenta object representations.
Equipment used (all purchased from Agena Astro):
Sharpstar 150 HNT AL Astrograph
ZWO ASI 585 MM Pro Camera
ZWO AM5N Mount
Baader Planetarium IR Pass Filter
Optolong IR Pass Filter
