When you’ve lived through childhood trauma, emotional suppression often becomes a survival skill. But in uncertain times, that old pattern can collide with a nervous system that is already on high alert and the result can feel like sudden anger, simmering rage, or a kind of internal pressure you do not know what to do with. Other times, it can create a sense of collapse. In this video, I talk I’m focusing on how anger and rage build in the body, and how to release that energy safely without turning it against yourself.
You might relate to the specifics of what is happening in the world right now, or you might simply recognize the way your own healing can bring intense emotions to the surface.
In this video, we explore:
The many ways anger shows up in adulthood (numbness, irritability, shutdown, rage, people pleasing, perfectionism)
What suppressed anger can do to your emotional health, relationships, and physical body
How gender roles, family rules, and trauma conditioning shape our relationship with anger
Why rage can spike during stressful, unsafe, or unstable times (nervous system + survival responses)
Safe ways to release anger using your voice and your body
How to care for yourself while living through ongoing collective stress, without bypassing what you feel
A gentle note: If you feel overwhelmed or activated while watching, pause, breathe, feel your feet on the floor, and come back when you have more capacity. You get to go slowly. There is nothing wrong with you for having big feelings… or maybe it seeming like you’re not feeling much at all.
If you’re carrying anger, rage, grief, or exhaustion and you do not know where to put it, I hope this helps you feel less alone, more grounded, and a little more connected to yourself.
Thank you for being here. We’re navigating this together.
