Sonny was already at his area, waiting for us, when we arrived. Jay put three live mealworms on the groundcover and one by one he took a mealworm up to the nearby fence post to eat them. Well done Sonny.
Fluffy met up with us when we were halfway between Sonny and her area. Jay picked up the dry food dish and dumped the water from the water dish. I rinsed out the water dish before filling it with fresh water and cleaned out the dry food dish of the few pieces of dry food left from yesterday, then I put two handfuls of dry food into the dish. Fluffy immediately had her face in the dry food dish and I had to coax her away from the dry food, so we could join Jay at her groundcover area. Once there, I immediately gave her the chewable flea and tick treatment and when she finished eating it, Jay put down cat treats for her. The cat treats quickly disappeared and then she headed over to her breakfast that was waiting for her.
Due to the sun coming over the hilltop earlier each day, the sun now makes it impossible for me to make a video of the Peacock in the Golden Tree at Whispering Hills Ranch, when I view him looking southeast. I have to walk past the tree and turn around so I view him looking north east and the way he stands usually means I view him with his back towards me. I made a short video of the Peacock before we continued.
Kali responded to our calling her and Jay shaking the cat treat container. She was at the Lutheran Church nearest to the church's back parking lot. Jay headed there to put cat food and cat treats on the cement curb for her. She waited for Jay to stand up and walk away, then headed to the food.
I was pleased to find Marvin and Mavis the Mallard Duck pair, still at Arroyo de los Coches Stream this morning. I made a short video of them and on our return we did not see them.
CC was at the back area of Alviso Adobe Park and Jay was alerted of CC's presence by the loud chattering noise of a Tree Squirrel, near the back area of the park. CC was sitting near where Jay tends to put down his food and when Jay slowly approached, CC came off the low rock wall and walked over to a different area of the rock wall, which just happens to be where I put down food for the park songbirds. After making a couple of videos, I slowly walked towards the area where I would be putting down the bird food and CC came off the walk and walked behind Jay to an area of the rock wall where he could watch Jay finish putting the food down for him. Jay made a video of CC after CC approached and began eating the food Jay had set out for him. None of my usual songbirds were coming to where I put down the food for them, but I am sure once CC leaves, they will be there. I watched what we believe was the Dark Morph male RedTailed Hawk land on the cross of the church next to the park. I made a brief video of him. We did have White-crowned Sparrows, Golden-crowned Sparrows, White-throated Sparrow, Doves and a California Towhee show up at the picnic area for the food set out for them there. Kali was still at the Lutheran Church on our return trip. Once we got her attention, Jay put cat treats on the church's cement curb in the back parking lot. Kali didn't immediately head over to the cat treats. We decided to head on our way home and when I glanced back, I saw Kali approaching the cat treats.
Fluffy was at her area when we return. Jay put cat treats down for her, which she quickly ate. While she was eating the cat treats, Jay headed over to put the rest of the dry food into her dish. Jay let me know that either Fluffy had been very hungry this morning or she had help, as most of the wet food was gone and not much was left in the dry food dish.
Sonny arrived at his area just before we did. Jay put the container of live mealworms on the groundcover and Sonny flew down and selected one. He took it to the nearby fence post to eat it, but departed when he was finished. Jay left one live mealworm for either Sonny or whichever songbird decided to take it.
