North Yorkshire Water Park parkrun takes place at the North Yorkshire Water Park and is well sign posted from the A170 Wykeham to Ayton Road. Follow the signs for the watersports lake.
When you turn off the A170 it is a tarmac single track road with passing places.
After a short distance the road takes a 90 degree right turn.
The entrance to the waterpark is immediately left as soon as you have turned right.
There is a large sign for the waterpark.
This road starts as tarmac but as it becomes compacted stone, there is a campsite on the left.
Link to campsite: https://www.northyorkshirewaterpark.c...
The compacted stone road has a few twists and turns but in the main is wide enough for two vehicles (Going slowly.)
As you reach the first lake on the right, there is a zip wire line.
You can park by the zip wire or head over the hump backed bridge to the left.
Once over the bridge turn left into the car park.
The car park on the right gets closed off from 08:30 until the parkrun has finished.
The facilities (Toilets, Changing rooms, Café etc are on the peninsula that goes out into the lake.)
The first timers welcome is done in the small car park on the left of the peninsula.
The finish is also on the peninsula.
The course is run in a clockwise direction and the start is around 100m from the peninsula.
You can just see the large start sign from the peninsula.
The course is compacted stone and pebbles for most of it but there is more of a trail section for the second half of the lake.
The first half of the lap, you can see the lake on your right, then as you get to the trail section and into the wood, you lose sight of the lake.
The last 50m of each lap as you get back to the peninsula is fine gravel and is harder to get a good grip or push hard as your feet tend to slip a little.
When you complete your second lap as you get onto the peninsula, you take a right turn and the finish line is around 30-40 feet in front of you.
Barcode scanning is at the end of the finish funnel.
The Café is just behind the barcode scanners.
The Café has indoor and outdoor seating.
There were plenty of volunteers, but the course and path are really easy.
In my case I just follow the person in front.
But you can't really get lost on this parkrun.
