We started a P-Pump conversion on this 24-valve Cummins with 126k miles, expecting a routine job... but things went south fast!
While pulling the camshaft [02:07] and checking the tappets [04:18], we found serious metal contamination [05:14] and clear evidence of a broken piston ring or land [06:20]. The oil pump gears were even chewed up [06:40]!
Instead of giving up, we're diving into some "Cowboy Science" [07:11] to clean up the mess and see if we can still make this conversion work!
