The Holy Books of Thelema

Описание: The central text of the Thelemic tradition is Liber AL vel Legis, The Book of the Law, received by Aleister Crowley in 1904. But less known and less studied are the other Holy Books of Thelema, received by Crowley primarily in 1907 and 1911.

In this class, we will focus on these other sacred texts of Thelema, such as Liber Liberi, Liber Stellae Rubeae, Liber A'ash, and others. We will look at questions of what exactly constitutes a Holy Book and how many of them there are. We will cover the chronology of the writing of the Holy Books, read excerpts therefrom, and consider some of Crowley's commentary thereon. We will examine the presence of Qabalistic, mythological, religious, and philosophical language and look at the Holy Books alongside trends in the avant-garde art and literature of the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries.

This class will serve to introduce the Holy Books of Thelema and will include advice for studying these challenging but consciousness-expanding texts. This class will be suitable for both beginners and more advanced students, and all are welcome to attend.
