Quickstrike and Silverbolt were awakened at the same time in the "Beast Wars" cartoon, and both were found originally by Megatron. Damage to their stasis pods on impact when they landed on prehistoric Earth caused the pods' scanners to combine DNA from two animal species together to create their hybrid alternate modes. In Quickstrike's case, a scorpion and a cobra were fused together.
The original toy had a squirting gimmick in the cobra head, which is represented here by a 3mm blast-effects hardpoint inside the snake mouth to mimic the 'spitting cobra' visuals of his Cyber-Venom attack.
