A true stalwart of UK dance music, Gavin Cheung’s
discography as Nookie, Cloud 9, and many other
pseudonyms includes releases on the cream of foundational
DnB labels such as Moving Shadow, Reinforced and
Good Looking.
Recently he’s released Kaeya on
Metalheadz, a track with three versions representing contemporary
DnB, ‘golden age’ mid-’90s atmospheric DnB, and ’91 era
hardcore. The latter is named the Rage Mix, after Fabio and
Grooverider’s seminal club night. We asked Gavin how he created
this tribute to the formative rave scene, and found out what’s
changed since the early days of underground dance production.
