Before the recent run of frosts, which at -9C 16F for several days were unusually severe for us, we harvested most beetroot, cabbage and some of the winter radish. This video is of a few plants left unprotected in the ground, to give you an idea of what frost damage looks like - in case you're wondering how much your plants have been affected.
Sometimes they look alright on the outside, until you touch them with a little push, and feel the softness, and liquid inside!
The spinach is the other way around, looks pretty bad but damage is to the outer leaves only for most of the plants, so they are still growing.
Filmed 20th December 2022 by Adam Wood at Homeacres no dig garden, Southwest England, zone 8 climate.
