VW Crafter Self Build Ep7: New Alloys / 15mm Insulation Done! | DIY Campervan Conversion 2026

Описание: It's time for Episode 7 of our VW Crafter self-build campervan conversion! 🚐✨
In this episode we've got a cracking mix of van work, a road trip, and one very unexpected act of kindness!

First up, we head over to Rogue Alloys to get some brand new alloy wheels fitted along with General Grabber tyres.

We recorded the road noise from the original wheels en route, and then compared it after the new alloys were fitted. At 70mph the difference is noticeable — the new setup is quieter, and at lower speeds the noise is just... different! 🎧 Well worth it in our opinion.

A massive thank you to Ruby at Rogue Alloys for the brilliant and completely unexpected surprise... a hoodie for me, and a free hoodie AND cap for Monima. Why the generosity? Well, I may have let slip that it was our 25th anniversary... and that I'd chosen to spend it getting new alloy wheels fitted instead of doing something romantic. Ruby clearly felt sorry for one, or possibly both of us! 😂

We'd have absolutely no hesitation in recommending Rogue Alloys.

Back in the van, we crack on with finishing off some wiring and finally we fitl the very last piece of 15mm Dodo Thermo Liner Pro on the van sides, expertly sourced from James at Custom Veedubs.

This feels like a genuinely massive achievement. We seem to have been installing insulation for months, so getting to this point is a real milestone! 🎉

We then turn our attention to the water system, fitting a longer 40mm pipe for the water filler cap and connecting it to the water tank that was fitted for us by Shaun at Barratts Tanks. It's all starting to come together! 💧

Finally, we talk through the side marker lights we'll be fitting to both the offside and nearside of the van. These were supplied by Beacons and Lightbars, a great company with a brilliant range of products. 💡
