CABAR FEIDH (Gaelic for 'stag's antlers') is an old Scottish tune dating from the 1730's and is played for the "Caber Feidh" Highland Dance in which the dancers 'imitate the shape of deer's antlers with arms and fingers. This is Duncan Johnstone's beautiful JIG arrangement but the tune is also performed in march, reel or strathspey idioms. In the late 1700's, the Earl of Seaforth’s Highland Regiment used Cabar Feidh march in battle as the regimental charge and it remains a favorite march amongst Commonwealth Highland regiments.
Welcome to the CALEDONIAN COLLECTION OF ESSENTIAL BAGPIPE TUNES, starting with Volume 1 - the Top 20 (and more!!) bagpipe tunes played by massed pipes & drums at highland games and parades. Each tune is played on the bagpipe practice chanter over a scrolling musical score. Check back for regular additions to the various playlists including pipe music for weddings, funerals, competitions etc.
