I've spent the past week at the beautiful and new Real InterContinental Santo Domingo (https://www.ihg.com/intercontinental/...) in the Dominican Republic. The hotel is in the heart of the city and offers easy access to shopping (there's a luxury mall a block away) and also to the city's Colonial historic district.
