Hydraulic oil for the compressor should be changed after the first 300 hours of service and every 500 hours thereafter. The compressor’s hydraulic oil filter should also be changed after the first 300 of use and then every 100 hours thereafter. This how-to-video shows how you can replace your hydraulic oil on your air compressor.
To be sure there is no excess air pressure in the system, open a service valve to discharge any compressed air. Open petcock valve found on the inside of the drain line in the cabinet above the unit.
When the hydraulic oil has been drained, close the petcock valve. Find the hydraulic filter and remove with an oil filter wrench. Unpack the new oil filter and lubricate O-ring. Install the new filter and O-ring.
Return to curb side of the unit and remove oil fuel plug from the receiver tank. Locate the threaded square top plug and remove it with an adjustable wrench.
Add new hydraulic oil into the oil fill until the liquid rises from midway to three quarters of the way full on the site glass. Insert the oil fill plug and make sure that it is tight.
