MY BEST DAY OF FLY FISHING THIS YEAR! (Big Trout in a Tiny Creek)

Welcome to another Fishmas video!! In this fly fishing / trout fishing video I went out to a tiny creek and was able to sight fish for huge trout! It's something that I love doing and I was fortunate to be able to do it on this particular day.

The surprising thing about this day of fishing was that I was able to catch so many big rainbow trout. Rainbow trout this time of year become super active due to spawn, and these fish were definitely getting ready to spawn. I figured since I had already caught a big brown trout and a big brook trout that I should at least attempt to catch a rainbow trout. I was shocked at how well I did though.

Sight fishing for these trout was fun and not all that difficult once I figured out what they wanted. My first cast of the day resulted in an 18 inch rainbow trout, and it only got better from there. I was sneaking up the creek in my grinch costume and slowly picking off trout that were willing to eat my fly.

That was one of the best days of fishing I’ve had this year by far. I was sight fishing for rainbow trout in a tiny creek, something that I love doing. It ended up being the best day by far I’ve had on that creek and one I won’t forget for a long time. I believe that a lot of the fish in that creek were setting up to spawn, or had already started spawning, which was also neat to see considering it’s December. Typically the rainbow trout from what I’ve seen don’t spawn until the spring, but this creek is definitely unique. It was essentially like fishing for steelhead.
