Описание:
Northern Flicker — a woodpecker that is mostly hunting on the ground, not on trees.
Its spotted brown-and-gold feathers disappear into fallen sycamore leaves and make it safe.
When Northern flicker feels the danger (crow voice) it drops lower and almost vanishes among sycamore leaves.
Stillness is part of survival.
This is why predators miss it.
Northern Flickers eat ants — that’s why they hunt in grass.
A Northern Flicker is perfectly colored for autumn grass.
Yellow leaves, golden feathers… make it almost invisible and safe.
