My story began under an old, broken-down Jeep in a place called Compton. I wasn’t hiding there because I liked it—I was hiding because I thought it was the end. My body ached, and every part of me was sore from whatever life had thrown at me before I crawled under that car. I didn’t know how much longer I had, and to be honest, I didn’t really care. But then something happened.
