Meet the pup we named Gabe

A property owner in North City called. Their tenants were evicted, yet…a petite little man was found, left behind. “He is skinny, and won’t get up. I fed him and left the back door open so he could get shelter. Can you come get him?” 

Yes, we will come get him…

We named him Gabe. He didn’t get up when we entered the house. He laid behind the door, and glanced at us, but he expected us to leave. As so many people have before. After some baby talk and Vienna sausages, he got up. That’s when we noticed he couldn’t put any weight on his back leg. Donna scooped him up in her arms and carried him to the Jeep, where he fell sound asleep on his freedom ride. During the video, you can hear his rescuers falling in love with him, telling him how cute he is!

When we got to our clinic and performed x-rays, we discovered he has a broken pelvis and will require an FHO - or femoral head ostectomy, which is a surgical procedure that restores pain-free mobility to a diseased or damaged hip.

He is an absolute love. Gabe, you will never be abandoned again. You’ll never feel fear or lonely. We adore you, absolutely adore you. 

Love his big head and little body. He’s certainly a special soul. We are so jealous of the lucky person who gets to adopt him! But first, we need to get him better!
