In a landmark ruling, the Waigani National Court has nullified the 2022 election victory of Kagua-Erave MP Hon. Maina Pano.
The court found serious irregularities, including ballot box hijacking and stuffing, which affected more than 13,000 votes — far greater than the winning margin.
➡️ Runner-up Emmanuel Loma Pamea, who petitioned the case, welcomed the ruling, while Maina Pano has announced plans to appeal to the Supreme Court.
⚖️ A by-election for Kagua-Erave Open has been ordered, with the Electoral Commission expected to begin preparations soon.
