In this video, I show how to build a simple analog overheat protection circuit using an NTC thermistor and a comparator.
This circuit detects excessive temperature and switches the output when a defined threshold is exceeded.
No microcontroller, no software — just pure analog electronics.
The project is built on a breadboard and focuses on understanding:
how an NTC thermistor works
how a comparator detects temperature thresholds
how hysteresis prevents output oscillation
how to set a reference voltage for overtemperature detection
This is a basic protection concept, intended for learning and experimentation, not a calibrated industrial solution.
🧠 What you’ll learn
Overtemperature detection using an NTC thermistor
Comparator basics for thermal protection
Simple hysteresis implementation
Analog protection without a microcontroller
🔧 Components used
NTC thermistor
Comparator (LM393 / LM358 or similar)
Resistors
Breadboard and power supply
⚠️ Important note
This circuit is for educational purposes only.
It is not temperature-calibrated and should not be used as a final safety system.
