Instructions for the mounting of the CVF 4 ventilation unit on the SOLYS 2 sun tracker followed by the fixing of a pyranometer in the unit.
A ventilation unit maximises the availability of good data and minimises the frequency of cleaning. It reduces the build-up of dirt and dust on radiometer domes, evaporates dew and raindrops and, when the heater is turned on, it can melt frost and snow. It also improves radiometer performance by stabilising temperature variations.
The instructions show the Kipp & Zonen CVF4 ventilation unit installed on the top mounting plate of the SOLYS 2 shading ball assembly, fitted with a SMP11-V pyranometer and the shading ball(s) adjusted. However, they also apply to mounting the CVF4 on any near-horizontal mounting surface and for fitting any CMP or SMP pyranometer or CGR pyrgeometer.
