This is one of these rare songs that are so famous, they've been covered a million times. There's a Hard Rock version by a band called GUN, and even Nu Metal icons KORN recorded their own cover version of this at some point. I guess it's just one of these phenomenons like TOTO's Africa that almost every single person in the world could agree on to being a great song. So of course, I went with the original version of Cameo's song Word Up! from 1986, and man, was it fun to play that iconic tune on my sparkling green SIMMONS kit from that very same era! There's just something super iconic about this beat paired with those funky guitars and lyrics that everyone's able to sing along to in a heartbeat. So I really hope you're going to enjoy listening to this as much as I did recording it!
