If you were standing with your coworkers in the middle of a remote forest, what would possess you to suddenly drop your radio and sprint headfirst down a dangerously steep, 70-degree ravine?
In October 2018, 27-year-old documentary producer Terrence Woods Jr. was filming in the rugged, isolated terrain of the Penman Mine in Idaho. He was surrounded by his production crew. But just as the sun began to set, Terrence abruptly dropped his two-way radio into the dirt and took off running. He didn't slip. He didn't stumble. According to eyewitnesses, he bolted down the incredibly steep, treacherous cliffside with the intense, deliberate speed of someone who was either chasing something unseen, or running for his life.
By the time his crew managed to scramble down the ravine to look for him just moments later, Terrence was completely gone. In an area so dense and difficult to navigate that search dogs struggled to move, how did an athletic young man vanish without leaving a single footprint, torn piece of clothing, or sound behind? The true terror of this case is the physical impossibility of his exit. Did Terrence suffer a sudden, catastrophic break from reality, or did he see something at the bottom of that ravine that no one else could?
In this episode of Still Unanswered, we question:
The Impossible Sprint: How did he manage to run down a 70-degree slope at full speed without breaking his neck or leaving a trail?
The Silent Forest: Why did a massive, multi-day search involving dogs, helicopters, and heat sensors fail to find a single trace of him in the immediate area?
The Crew's Timeline: The unsettling details of his final days on set, and the bizarrely tight 11-minute window in which he evaporated.
The Phantom Destination: If he made it to the bottom of the ravine, where could he possibly have gone in the freezing Idaho wilderness with no supplies?
