The party purchased a birthday gift for the missing Vistani girl Arabelle at Blinsky's Toy Store, where they discovered that Izek, the Burgomaster's feared enforcer, had commissioned an eerie doll resembling Ireena in full plate armor. At the Vistani encampment, they learned that Arabelle had been missing for two days, and a decapitated body identical to a living camp member named Yan had been found near the Luna River alongside a mysterious signet ring bearing symbols of evocation and necromancy. Kasimir, the scholarly Dusk Elf leader, could not identify the ring despite his extensive arcane knowledge, and the Vistani brothers Luvash and Arrigal enlisted the party's help to find Arabelle, warning them to keep their association secret from the Burgomaster who had banned Vistani from Vallaki.

The party visited St. Andral's Church where Father Lucian revealed in private to Graven and Torinn that the bones of Saint Andral had been stolen three nights ago, removing the hallowed ground protection that kept Vallaki safe from Strahd and other dark forces with the feast day rapidly approaching. Meanwhile, the rest of the party found Ireena and the intoxicated Ismark at the Blue Water Inn, and Ireena agreed to use her status as a Burgomaster's family member to help them access the mansion's library to research the mysterious ring. The party now faced multiple urgent crises: finding Arabelle before it was too late, recovering the stolen bones before the feast day, and uncovering the truth behind Izek's disturbing obsession with Ireena.
