Camp Jened was more than a summer camp — it was a birthplace of activism. In a time when people with disabilities were denied fundamental rights, Camp Jened empowered young campers to recognize both their rights and their responsibility to advocate for change. The friendships and courage formed at Jened fueled the disability rights movement, leading to historic legislation and reshaping the landscape for equality.
The Next Generation Angels Awards are an annual prize established by The Better Angels Society in coordination with National History Day® to recognize excellent, well-researched historical filmmaking by middle and high school students and provide them with mentorship opportunities.
