Domestication refers to the process of making the target language text more familiar to the target culture by adapting it to the norms, customs, and language of the target culture. In other words, domestication aims to make the translation easier to read and understand for the target audience. Foreignization, on the other hand, seeks to preserve the original text's cultural and linguistic differences. The target text remains closer to the source text in terms of cultural and linguistic differences, which may make it more challenging for the target audience to understand. Both strategies have their advantages and disadvantages and depend on the purpose and context of the translation.
