The late fifteenth-century musical manuscript preserved at the Abbey of Abbey of Montecassino is one of the most important musical sources of its time. Known as MS 871, it preserves an international repertoire of sacred and secular works performed at the Aragonese Court of Naples in the second half of the fifteenth century.
Its liturgical contents include hymns, psalms, Magnificats, and Lamentations by French, Italian, and Spanish composers. The secular repertory features French chansons, Italian ballate and strambotti, and Spanish canciones.
