In this forehand lesson, Jeff Salzenstein breaks down the Rafael Nadal buggy whip forehand. He reveals the technical and strategic secrets that can help you master this amazing shot.

Jeff has seen many junior, club, and even professional tennis players who have the wrong technique on the buggy whip forehand. They tend to swing up and finish on the same side of your body. This can cause major injuries on your shoulder in the long run, as well as prevent you from hitting your forehand with the maximum amount of power and spin possible.

Extension is the main key to master Rafael Nadal’s buggy whip forehand. You must extend out to the target, before it comes back around to the same side of the body.

There are many places on the court where Nadal uses his buggy whip forehand. Jeff reveals four specific scenarios, where you can implement this shot.

Use #1: Forehand cross-court:
