Think realistically: you can never generate large amount of power using small muscle groups. And a person spending 5 years practicing the Inch Power 寸勁 can never be as powerful as the same person spending 5 years practicing a full swing hit.
However, the explosive Inch Power has the advantage of being invisible and immediate, which makes it difficult to defend. If trained correctly, it is enough to shock and wind the opponent temporarily, destroying his momentum, flow, and structure enough for you to apply the finishing moves.
When using Wing Chun against an opponent, you should make him feel as if he is trapped in quick successions of ocean waves smashing him continuously off balanced, receiving barrages of hits out of nowhere, and unable to defend himself. It is scary for someone on the receiving end of good Wing Chun.
