It happened. Sub 26, my final minute barrier for Any% Easy has been broken.
This run is the testinomy of my 9 years of speedrunning.
My first game as a speedrunner.
My first category I got my first WR with.
It's been almost 3 years since I set my previous PB. Back then, Sub 27 was achievable but quite difficult due to the known strats at the time. Fortunately, I found a lot of new improvements: New routes, faster movements and new consistent setups. It turns out that Sub 26 became achievable too!
The biggest improvements are the following:
A faster and more consistent route to gather 21000 points.
A new route in Smash and Grab saves up to 8 seconds: Instead of killing the first group of guys immediately, I bring both key cards to the banker as quickly as possible. Then I kill them while the banker is running towards the first vault. To be worth it, this route requires a very fast backtrack through the vent and very fast kills.
A new consistent combo againt Vulture, it is possible to end phase 1 in only 2 cycles consistently by using the combo XXXB X(X) twice.
A new Shocker strat: Instead of trying to punch him in the air after a XXB combo, I swing and attack him in the air with web until he dies. This strat is more consistent for all difficulties, but is slower for Easy.
Overall better L+R movements, camera angle practice, and cycle knowledge.
About this run:
My goal was Sub 27. I achieved Sub 27 and Sub 26:30 in the same run.
Then my new goal was Sub 26.
I set another 26:24 PB, and finally this very lucky run happened!
Biggest time losses:
5s in Waxy Residue, I couldn't save 2 hostages quickly.
4s in Escape from the Vault, I messed up my movement in the first vent.
4s in Ock's Rampage, I got the bad path. That's RNG, out of my control.
8s in A Feathery Flight, I got hit twice while swinging. And I got the worst path to set up the swing to the crane.
Small time losses in Spiked Charge and Final Experiment. About 6s lost.
So there is another 25s that can technically be saved. However, that's not enough timesave to break the next minute barrier. So...I won't push this category any further. It's been 9 years already. 9 satisfying years enjoying this game.
Retimed 25:51.0x, so it's a 29:51 run.
