Dear friends, I hope you are all doing well, although we left the dedicated pandemic time to enter to another crisis... So sad! But let's keep going thinking positive. For exemple making music :-)

Today is one more anniversary: we are completing 80 videos since 80 weeks without stoping, viva! My video Nr. 80 of the serie COM ROD NA MÚSICA, today with a very special guest: my son LINO BOTTER MAIO on accordion.

PS: Lino, I really miss playing with you. I hope we can make this again very soon :-)

There is nothing nicer than playing with Lino. It is incredible how fast he undestands the music, his Brazilian groove (although he is actually swiss), how nice and melodic his improvisations, it do ines not matter the tempo or harmony.

ABOUT ME AND THIS SONG: When I moved to Graz (Austria) to study at the Jazz Academy, I had the good luck and chance to join the great TANGAVAN BIG BAND, a great Band with the best players of the school and the idea was to play Tango, Salsa and I don't know what more.
I remember that we used to play this song in many concerts and the great german saxophonist used to solo over it like crazy.
After many many years my son Lino brought this song to his repertoire through his accordion teacher and them we started to play it.
If you write here in YouTube my name and Libertango (or TRIO DOIS A UM) you will find another old video of us playing this song in trio. There you see how young Lino was, together with my other friend OLIVER PELLET.

DUO BOTTER MAIO: Lino Botter Maio (accordion) & Rodrigo Botter Maio (sax). It was a great pleasure to record this video in the beggining of the pandemic in Switzerland. Duo Botter Maio


Mit 13 Jahren hat Rodrigo angefangen, Gitarre zu spielen und zu singen. Beeinflusst wurde er dabei von Chico Buarque, Tom Jobim, João Gilberto und anderen.
Die Querflöte kam dazu als er 14 wurde, das Alt-Saxophon mit 16 Jahren.

Lino hat das Akkordeon entdeckt, als er vier Jahre alt war. Mit fünf stand er zum ersten Mal mit Rodrigo auf der Bühne und macht bis jetzt eine brillante Karriere. Heute ist er 19 Jahre alt.

Bereits Lino’s Urgrossvater war Akkordeonist. Er spielte Anfang des vorigen Jahrhunderts Akkordeon in Stummfilmen. Nach zwei Generationen kehrte das Instrument also zurück in die Familie.

Unabhängig von den Konzerten mit grösseren Formationen wie der Jazz Via Brasil Group, tritt Rodrigo immer wieder auch alleine mit Gitarre und Stimme auf. Ausgehend von dieser Kleinstformation kam die Idee auf, mit Lino ein Duo zu gründen. Dahinter liegen Stunden um Stunden von gemeinsamem Arbeiten und Musizieren.

Im Programm gibt es einige Kompositionen von Rodrigo, aber auch Perlen aus dem reichen brasilianischen Repertoire von Luiz Gonzaga, Tom Jobim, Villa Lobos, Hermeto Pascoal und anderen. Alle Stücke wurden von Rodrigo neu arrangiert.
