"Kashmir" is a song by the English rock band Led Zeppelin. Included on their sixth album Physical Graffiti (1975), it was written by Jimmy Page and Robert Plant with contributions from John Bonham over a period of three years with lyrics dating to 1973.

The song became a concert staple, performed by the band at almost every concert after its release. It has been described as one of Led Zeppelin's two most overtly progressive epics (the other being "Stairway to Heaven").

Sweet Janis is a medley of songs by Janis Joplin. Janis Lyn Joplin (January 19, 1943 – October 4, 1970) was an American singer and musician. One of the most successful and widely known rock stars of her era, she was noted for her powerful mezzo-soprano vocals and "electric" stage presence.
In 1967, Joplin rose to fame following an appearance at Monterey Pop Festival, where she was the lead singer of the then little-known San Francisco psychedelic rock band Big Brother and the Holding Company. After releasing two albums with the band, she left Big Brother to continue as a solo artist with her own backing groups, first the Kozmic Blues Band and then the Full Tilt Boogie Band. She appeared at the Woodstock festival and on the Festival Express train tour. Five singles by Joplin reached the Billboard Hot 100, including a cover of the Kris Kristofferson song "Me and Bobby McGee", which reached number one in March 1971. Her most popular songs include her cover versions of "Piece of My Heart", "Cry Baby", "Down on Me", "Ball and Chain", "Summertime", and her original song "Mercedes Benz", her final recording.

Valedictorian:
Dan Friel is an American electronic musician based in Brooklyn. Friel was a founding member of Parts & Labor and played with the group until its dissolution in 2012. He began self-releasing solo recordings in 2001, and has since released music on Thrill Jockey Records. Dan Friel is a master of abrasive pop melody. Whether through his child-sized keyboard, and drum machine on his own or through his incendiary guitar playing in cosmic noise-pop trio Upper Wilds, Friel’s hooks bubble and froth from beneath a sea of crunching, squelching distortion and feedback.

Blues is a music genre and musical form which originated in the Deep South of the United States around the 1860s. Blues incorporated spirituals, work songs, field hollers, shouts, chants, and rhymed simple narrative ballads from the African-American culture.

What instruments are used in the Blues?

Instruments commonly found are guitar; harmonica; double bass; banjo; violin; voice; piano. Originally all instruments were acoustic as there was no electricity in the late 19th century. Later bass guitar, piano and electric guitar were used.

Written by Navajo composer Rodney Yazzie, this heavy metal inspired piece has been performed all over the world as one of our best encores. As classically trained musicians, we finally had the chance to pretend we were a group of heavy metal instrumentalists. Rock on everyone!
