About this Episode:
The Babcock Ranch Preserve in Punta Gorda, Florida is a permanently protected expanse of cypress swamps, marshlands, prairies and pine forests that provide refuge for abundant wildlife species. The Telegraph Swamp, a prominent feature of the Preserve, is vital to the region’s water supply and connected ecosystems including the Everglades, Caloosahatchee River, and Charlotte Harbor.

After purchase by Edward Babcock in 1914, these lands sold to the state nearly a century later. This transaction sparked a new era designed to maintain a rich history of agriculture, public recreation, and ecotourism… legacies now managed through the leadership of Tarpon Blue Land and Resource Management. Tending to livestock and other daily hands-on, land-management tasks is Ranch Manager - David Yates and his team of Cowboys.

Meanwhile, the Visitor Center at Babcock Ranch Eco-Tours welcomes guests of all ages, and from around the world, looking for the same thing - natural adventure on Florida’s wild side.
