A Green Party councillor has sparked backlash after saying she’ll deliver Valentine’s cards to asylum seekers at the Crowborough camp — and take her grandchildren with her.
Anne Cross said the children helped paint the cards as a “welcome” for men staying at the site. Local Tory MP Nus Ghani called it “disturbing” and raised safeguarding concerns, while Shadow Home Secretary Chris Philp said it was “asking for trouble”. Cross defended the plan, saying the cards would be anonymous and there’s “no evidence” women or children face higher risk from asylum seekers than anyone else.
