Описание: Gary Lineker has criticised Sir Jim Ratcliffe after the Manchester United co-owner said Britain was being “colonised” by immigrants.

Ratcliffe faced backlash from politicians, fan groups and others, and later issued a partial apology, saying he regretted the wording but wanted a debate about “controlled and well-managed immigration” linked to jobs, skills and growth.

On the Rest Is Football podcast, Lineker called the comments “hypocritical”, pointing out Ratcliffe lives in Monaco and arguing many migrants contribute through work and taxes.

In other news, Rupert Lowe has launched a new political party after leaving Reform UK.

The Great Yarmouth MP, now sitting as an independent, unveiled Restore Britain on Friday night. He previously set it up as a “political movement” after being suspended from Reform last March, but it is now intended to operate as a national party that links up with local partner groups.

Lowe was suspended following claims he made threats against then Reform chairman Zia Yusuf, though the CPS later said there wasn’t enough evidence to charge him.

Lowe is expected to stand again in Great Yarmouth alongside a local partner party, Great Yarmouth First. Senior Conservatives Susan Hall and Sir Gavin Williamson had advised Restore Britain when it was a movement, but are now understood to be stepping away as it becomes a political party.
