NR54 & NR1 on Pacnats Perth to Melbourne intermodal, 1PM5 through Herne Hill pedestrian walkway, caught on a very hot day.
I filmed this service alongside @watrainchaser_5 and @8888transportpix on the 8th of February 2026, 3:58pm.
It's great that I caught NR1 in 1PM5's loco consist as NR1 was the first NR class unit to be built.Hence the number 1 meaning first.
The Sunday afternoon was a scorcher of a day but I still managed to get out and get some trains, 1PM5 being one of them.
Pacific national, also known as Pacnat, operates most East to West intermodal's during the day, and also using the double stacked container formation to maximise the amount of freight to be carted transcontinentally on one train, reducing high costs of money for Pacnat.
Behind the 2 loco's, is one of Pacific national's crew barracks cars/wagons, this is where the crew rest when off duty and can have a break as the train takes at least a few days to cross the country from West to East or Vise Versa.
The afternoon sunny lightings allow good light to film these trains in the Swan valley.
The Swan valley, apart from the train line, is a pretty beautiful area, full of trees, and many wineries and fields of grapes which are used in the production of Wine.
Fresh produce and cattle are raised in the Swan valley aswell, as the Swan valley is also made up of many farming regions, there is one just to the left of the Herne Hill pedestrian crossing.
If you pay close attention to the front bottom right side of NR54, you will see a small RUOK logo, some other NR's wear a big RUOK livery on the side.
Make sure to enjoy the video, filmed the 8th of February 2026 and posted to YouTube on the 10th of February 2026.
