G511 is moving through the heart of Fremantle, with 6161 for Kenwick, in the morning hours.

G511 is running Watco intermodal link service, 6161 for Kenwick intermodal terminal.Passing through the heart of Fremantle, as it proceeds through.

G511 is the only G class locomotive in Australia to wear Watco’s Yellow and Black livery.

It is also the only G class to operate in Western Australia alongside Watco Australia’s fleet of locos.

Behind the train, you can see the ship control tower for North Quay port, as controllers connect the supply chain with trucks, ships and trains.

Watco is a very old company, also operating many old locomotives throughout its time.

Empty and loaded shipping containers are moved in and out of North Quay by ship, train, and truck.All containers then move to the next part of the supply chain such as, if a container has shoes inside, it will be sent to a facility that will ensure the products arrive at a shoe store or the customer that ordered them, other containers will vary in what process occurs.

Watco operates the Kenwick train as a 160/161/162/163 service, this one in the video being the 161 service, 6161.

Both Watco locos, GL107 & G511, seem to be alternating between each other on the Kenwick ILS service recently, with GML10 taking the Forrestfeild ILS duty.

Watco locos in Wa consists of the G class(in this video), the GL class, the VL class, the T class, the AB class, The 422 twins of FL class & HL class, also the DR class, as of 2026 in January.

There is a well built water spray trail around the roundhouse area, where as a train approaches, the track pipes, start spitting out water, this decreases the amount of squeaking when the loco along with all its wagons is rounding multiple curves at a time, which is common in this part of Fremantle.
