Описание: I was honored to speak with Dr. Steve Mason, Distinguished Professor of Ancient Mediterranean Religions and Cultures at the University of Groningen.

Dr. Mason shared his background, starting from childhood, moving through his deconversion from Christianity, and telling a little bit about his current work.

We talked about the origins of Christianity and of the New Testament books, and how there were many combatting Christianities present in those early stages. We touched on his studies of the Greco-Roman era, as well as his extensive work studying Josephus.

Dr. Mason shared his thoughts regarding the philosophical jump from Christianity to atheism. Throughout the interview, we wove in the ideas of Christianity being mythology, Jesus mythicism, Hellenistic influence on the story of Jesus, mimesis, pagan parallels, and the general concept of how a historian interprets the evidence in all these areas.
