Written by Richard A Whiting and Sidney Clare. Arranged by Herb Bernstein and produced by Bob Crewe.
Originally recorded by Shirley Temple for the 1934 film, “Bright Eyes”, the 4 Seasons chose the song to be their follow up to “Don’t Think Twice It’s Alright”, which they had released under the name, The Wonder Who in late 1965. It wasn’t as successful, reaching #87, whereas its predecessor made it to #12. (“Lollipop’s” b-side, "You're Nobody 'Til Somebody Loves You", also entered the Hot-100 with a one week showing at # 96). At the time, the 4 Seasons were on the Hot-100 with “Opus 17 (Don’t You Worry ‘Bout Me”)”.
The Wonder Who followed with one more 45 on Philips, “Lonesome Road”. That titles’ chart placing at #89 was surely an indication to all that this little diversion had run its course.
