Speculation is growing over a possible split in the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) amid the ongoing cross-voting controversy in Odisha. Senior leader Dillip Ray claimed that not 11 but 18 MLAs had cross-voted, while veteran leader Bijoy Mohapatra indicated a new political equation emerging in the state.

These developments have intensified discussions about internal divisions within the party. However, the BJD has maintained that the party remains united and strong despite the allegations.
