Описание: The Whole of the Moon by The Waterboys, one of my favourite songs of all time from their incredible This is the Sea record, another all time favourite of mine.

I first covered Waterboys last year when I uploaded a version of Fisherman's Blues and in the description for that video I spoke about how much I love Mike Scott as a songwriter and lyracist. To reiterate - he is one of the greatest in my book and is especially underrated lyrically. They are just one of my favourite bands and I love them.

I'm posting this in August 2025, however I recorded this in May and Completely forgot about it. I havent posted to my channel for a couple of months and as I was recording a batch of new videos (coming next week), I found this and I couldnt believe it.

I recorded this after I went for lunch with one of my great old mates Phil Fletcher, fellow music obsessive and great head to talk music with. He told me that Mike Scott wrote this song about Prince which blew my mind. I researched it and I dont think its true however, it very well could be if you look at the lyrics through that purple tinted lens so I'm gonna go with the legend over the truth. Why? These lyrics

"I wondered, I guessed and I tried, you just knew"

I love Prince and any of the above could be about his incredible talent.

I took a month off formally last summer which was a good decision but time to get back on it now for the rest of 2025
