August 2, 2025: Day 1 of 13 (plus 2 rest days) on the Tour du Mont Blanc.
Today, we started by taking the number 1 bus from Chamonix to Les Houches which takes about 25 minutes. We got off at the 'Les Houches Mairie' stop which is the closest to the official start (metal arch outside the tourist office). From here, we walked about 15 minutes to the 10 minute Bellevue cable car which we took to the top. We then waited a bit in the building for it to stop raining and then started our walk. We took the Col de Tricot variant so we could experience the La Chalette suspension bridge, walking over the Col de Tricot and down the steep decent into the Village of Miage where we stayed for the night.
We booked a private room at Refuge Miage which was 80 E each and included half-board.
