Since the development of combination antiretroviral therapy in the late 1990s, HIV has become a chronic, manageable condition for the vast majority of patients. As people living with HIV age, primary care clinicians need to be comfortable preventing and managing comorbidities in this population. This presentation will cover a range of primary care topics from HIV test, pre- and post-exposure prophylaxis, cancer screening, vaccinations, and select comorbid conditions.
By the end of this session, attendees will be able to:
1. Identify candidates for HIV testing and pre-exposure prophylaxis.
2. After this session attendees will prescribe and manage HIV pre-exposure prophylaxis for eligible patients.
3. By the end of this session, attendees will be able to discuss the benefits of universal HIV testing and early treatment initiation.
4. After this session attendees will have increased confidence in managing the primary care needs of their patients living with HIV.
