With that said it is worth driving to the pool store to get this cleaner. I've seen a lot of automatic cleaners over the years, some good and some bad and the Rebel is the best.

The gearing is simple and efficient. I've sat outside by my pool and watched this thing for two hours. It works itself around the deep end, shallow end and up the walls as if it had a computer chip inside directing it. My pool is 100% spotless or as my son says, "negative percent of all the leaves."

I like the fact that it is designed to climb the walls but somehow doesn't breach the surface at all. I will have to ask Pentair how that works but I have a few guesses. Whatever the engineering behind that, it will climb and give your pool full coverage.

The tires are made out of a hard rubber so they should be long lasting. It will be the only part you will need to watch and change when they wear down. I mentioned the simple gearing and I would suspect that the internal workings will last for a few years at the very least.

The hoses are also important to note here. Pentair makes hoses that are very long lasting. So there is no worry about the hoses wearing out long before the cleaner itself.

I like the compact design of the gear type cleaners. Aesthetically they are pleasing to the eye while they are working in the pool.

I like the overall design of the cleaner including the quick open top to remove any jammed debris. The Turbine that picks up the debris is also impressive. Nothing seems to jam the turbine and since it is a single solid piece no debris will get under the vanes to stop it from moving.

Basically what your get is a very lasting cleaner that will require very little maintenance and will leave your pool spotless all week long.

It isn't a stretch to say this is the best suction-side cleaner of 2015.

Here is a rundown of the good points for you:
The gearing is designed to be long lasting.
The rollers on the bottom are not attached to the body so they are
unlikely to snap off and thus cause the entire bottom to be
replaced out.
The tires seem like a harder material so they appear to be more
durable.
The wall climbing ability is excellent and it seems not to want to
breach the surface and will climb to the tile line.
The color scheme is excellent.
The easy open top is a bonus.
The solid turbine is smart and effective, won't get jammed by a
pebble in a vane.
The turn cycle is perfect for all pool sizes.
Comes with a two year warranty.
