St Vincent cemetery, Montmartre, Paris

Описание: Welcome to Cimetière St Vincent, one of three cemeteries in this iconic Parisian neighborhood. Two are open to the public year round. The smallest one, le Cimetière du Calvaire, (a parish cemetery located next to the Place du Tertre,) only one day a year, in November.

Today, we explore Saint Vincent. It's much smaller than the popular Montmartre cemetery, yet special in so many ways! There are few major celebrities here, but rather former Montmartre residents. Some happened to be local artists.

Graves highlighted during this visit include:

Marcel Carné, movie director ("Visiteurs du Soir," "Hôtel du Nord" and more.)
Roland Dorgelès, author
Debray family (local millers)
Claude Pinoteau, movie director ("La Gifle," Isabelle Adjani, "la Boum," Sophie Marceau)
Maurice and Lucie Utrillo, painters
Theophile Steinlen, poster artist, illustrator
"Maman Perdon," Montmartre resident, nurse.
"Michou," cabaret owner, performer, philanthropist.

More names worth mentioning, not featured in the video, include: Eugène Boudin, painter, Marcel Aymé (writer.)
