Still working on this Joe Jackson song. After about 1:30 my hand starts cramping! By the end of the week hope to have this 4min song complete!

This is a bit difficult on a pick because as you see I'm skipping the middle string to play octaves in every pattern so I have to sweep the pick up and down, missing the A string when I'm playing the F# E string and F# D string, for example. The entire song is octaves, skipping that middle string on every pattern.

While it's very difficult on bass guitar, Joe played it on a Minimoog and for a keyboard player playing his lefthand like this is no huge deal, lot harder on bass for a lot of tech reasons: The original Mini-Moog was monophonic, meaning new note cancels last note, so no overlap, which cleans it up.

Also, the keys on early Minimoogs were not pressure sensitive, meaning same volume and attack on every note. Lastly, easier to play legato when releasing the key cuts off the note (if you set it with 0 decay) . For these reasons and more, much harder on bass.
