In this vlog, I’m knitting a delicate yet realistic magpie and baking dark chocolate cookies on a quiet February day in the French Alps.

Black, white, and soft shades of grey yarn. A subtle metallic thread for the wings and tail. Tiny needles, colorful stitch markers, and the little bird slowly coming to life in my hands.

While the magpie takes shape, dark chocolate cookies with sea salt crystals are baking in the oven. The window is open, the birds are loud, and Kafka is quietly keeping me company between naps and snack breaks. ❤️🐾

Chocolate Cookies

• 100 g chocolate (I used dark chocolate)
• 170 g soft butter (I used salted butter with sea salt crystals)
• 50 g powdered sugar
• 250 g flour

Melt the chocolate in the microwave and let it cool.

Cream the soft butter with powdered sugar until smooth. Stir in the melted chocolate. Add the flour gradually, and bring everything together into a soft dough.

Shape into a log and chill for 30 minutes.

Slice into 1 cm pieces, place on a baking tray, and bake at 180°C for about 15 minutes.

While still warm, turn the cookies over and sprinkle the slightly moist side with sugar so it gently sticks.

Perfect with a cup of tea. ☕🍪
