Описание: This is Week 1 – Part 3 of my Wilmslow Half Marathon Block, using the Norwegian Singles Approach to develop aerobic fitness and threshold strength ahead of race day on March 22nd.

This video covers Saturday and Sunday, rounding out the first full week of the block.

🏃‍♂️ This video covers:

Saturday: Newtown parkrun, running alongside Wayne once again.
I used parkrun as a controlled sub-threshold session, running a continuous 30-minute effort, briefly pausing the watch at 5km to have my parkrun token scanned before continuing.
The effort was at threshold, but heart rate remained lower than expected — most likely due to the very cold conditions, rather than a change in intensity.

Sunday: A 90-minute easy long run around Llanidloes, keeping the effort fully aerobic.
During the run, I reflected on the first week of the block and how I was feeling overall.

One interesting takeaway from the week was how fresh I felt. With the Norwegian Singles Approach keeping intensity controlled and repeatable, the overall amount of high-intensity work is lower than in more traditional plans. As a result, I felt almost like I do during a taper week — recovered, relaxed, and ready to train again.

This approach fits perfectly with the Norwegian Singles philosophy — prioritising consistency, restraint, and repeatable training over forcing intensity. The goal is to arrive at future sessions healthy, confident, and ready to absorb the work.
