Oxford University's William Fleming recently conducted a study investigating the effectiveness of various workplace wellbeing interventions, including stress management courses, mindfulness classes, and wellbeing apps. The findings revealed that the majority of these interventions showed no statistically significant impact on employee wellbeing or job satisfaction. They failed to enhance the sense of belonging, alleviate perceived time pressures, or strengthen workplace relationships. Surprisingly, some interventions even appeared to have a detrimental effect, with workplace resilience and mindfulness training slightly worsening employees' self-rated mental health, according to the study.
